Abstract

This study provides a new way to analyze an area that occurs paradoxically on the one hand has an abundance of natural resources, but on the other hand the level of welfare of the people of Rokan Hulu Regency is still low by using the Lorenz curve model and the Gini index. In this study, there is one type of spatial used, namely spatial mapping. Spatial mapping is a description of the condition of community welfare, resulting in a socio-demographic map in Rokan Hulu Regency. This study aims to analyze the welfare of oil palm farmers in an area where there is a paradox on the one hand having an abundance of natural resources, but on the other hand the level of welfare of the people of Rokan Hulu Regency is still low by using the Lorenz curve model and the Gini index. In this study using primary data. Slovin method as well as using the Index model. By using the Gini index model on the income and expenditure approach, it is stated that the people in Rokan Hulu Regency experience high inequality with an index value of 0.81 in the calculation using the income approach and 0.84 in the calculation using the expenditure approach. To improve the economic condition of the farming community in Rokan Hulu Regency, the government can support and encourage the economic development of oil palm farmers by making various policies related to fertilizer subsidies, determining the wages of farmers' workers, and determining the standardization of the selling price of palm oil by farmers. People in Rokan Hulu Regency experience high inequality with an index value of 0.81 in the calculation using the income approach and 0.84 in the calculation using the expenditure approach.
