Abstract

Motivation was one of the main factors that influence employee performance. Motivation consists of two major types; intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation. In this research, researcher used extrinsic motivation only and did not use intrinsic motivation because intrinsic motivation was already have by the employee themselves. This research was conducted to answer the question that "was there any influence between motivation like; incentive (X1), work condition (X2), and work colleague (X3) as the independent variable, to the employee performance as the dependent variable (Y) at the Department of Utilities, PT. Wijaya Karya (persero) Terbuka". The hypothesis of the research; there was the influence between motivation to the employee performance at the Department of Utilities, PT. Wijaya Karya (persero) Terbuka. This research used questionnaire to get data from 115 respondents at the employee of Department Utilities, PT. Wijaya Karya (persero) Terbuka. All statements in the questionnaire were valid and reliable. To analyze data, in this research, the researcher used F test, coefficient determinant (R2) and t test to test the hypothesis by using SPSS ver.12. The result showed that there was positive significant influence between motivations as the independent variable to the employee performance (Y) as the dependent variable at the Department of Utilities, PT. Wijaya Karya (persero) Terbuka. Its proof by result of F test 263,016 > F tables df=113 at the α = 5 % = 3,92 and H1 was accepted. The value of coefficient determinant (R2) was 0,877. Its means that 87,7% of employee performance explained by motivation and 12,3% explained by other factors. By using t test the result showed that motivation X1 and X2 ware influenced the employee performance so the H1 was accepted, but motivation X3 did not influence employee performance. So the H1 was not accepted. The value of coefficient regression motivation variable X2 was 0,522, Its mean that work condition has biggest contribution 52,2% out of 87,7 % of total employee performance. The value of coefficient regression motivation variable X1 was 0,318. Its mean that work incentive has contributed 31,8% from 87,7% of total employee performance. The value of Coefficient regression motivation variable X3 was -0,059. Its mean that work colleague has negative contributed -5,9% from 87,7% of total employee performance. This research concluded that there was positive influence between motivations to the employee performance at the Department of Utilities, PT. Wijaya Karya (persero) Terbuka. 87,7% of employee performance explained by motivation and 12,3% explained by other factors. Work condition has biggest contribution of total employee performance.
