Abstract

The Succes of Universitas Terbuka (UT) is determined by the ability and the quality of professional human resources. Professional human rresources can be developed through education and training. By training, the performance and motivation will increase. The performance of UT lecturers are reflected in Tri Dharma, education, teaching and research. This research was attempted to analyze effect of training toward motivation and performance of UT lecturers. The training which was discussed in the research was a training on writing a research proposal in 2011. The research population all lecturers in UT head office who participated in the training which was organized by teh Center of Human Resource Development. It was a quantitative research, and the determination of scores for each item questionnaire was using likert scale. The collected data was analyzed by SEM, using Lisrel software. The result of the research showed that training positively influence the lecturers motivation to write a research proposal. It indicated that the more the training was done, the higher the motivation and performance of UT lecturers in the head office to write a research proposal. Therefore, the Center of Human Resource Development must continue to conduct trainings which increases the lecturers competencies because basically, they love to join any kind of trainings.
