Abstract

This article aims to explore sustainable development which has implications for improving the quality of life of the community through the implementation of smart city policies. This research is a qualitative research. The data was taken in South Tangerang City, Indonesia. The primary data was obtained from the results of the dept interview with key informants, which included the Mayor, bureaucrats, and the community. Secondary data is obtained from government documents, big data (online mass media, other data sources). Data analysis was carried out using qualitative data analysis techniques using the NVIVO application. The findings of this study are 1). The transformation of public services has not been fully supported by community readiness. 2) Smart cities emphasize more on efficiency and effectiveness in government, namely by creating several population applications. education, urban infrastructure, and integrated traffic mobility control. The implication of this research is the need to carry out comparative research on the implementation of smart city policies in Indonesia as well as adding elements of the active role of the community in addition to the 6 (six) dimensions of smart cities.
