Higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) questions in the English textbook for high school is a study that investigates the levels of the cognitive domain of the questions in the English textbook and their frequency and percentage in the six levels of the cognitive domain, and also how the questions in the English textbook facilitate students' HOTS. The research design is mainly qualitative. The data are the content of an English textbook entitled Bahasa lnggris SMAIMAISMKIMAK kelas XI semester I, published by Kementrian Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan, 2017. The result showed that 106 questions vary in levels. Remembering level is one (0.94%), understanding level is 17 (16.04%), analyzing level is 26 ( 24.53%), evaluation level is 43 (40.57%), creating level 19 (17.92%). Bloom's Taxonomy states that level of analyzing, evaluation, and creating categorized as higher-order thinking skills (HOTS). Their number in total is 88 questions or 83.02%. It means that most of the questions in the book are categorized as HOTS ones and only 18 questions or 16.98% as the LOTS ones. The ten sample of questions from three chapters categorized as HOTS was distributed to the 116 students through google form to gain their responses and figure out how these questions facilitate the students' HOTS. The presence of these HOTS questions has an important role in stimulating and training higher thinking skills that facilitate the students to gain higher-order thinking skills.
